Police are asking the public for help in identifying a man who allegedly robbed a bank inside a local supermarket.

The robbery took place just before 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at the People's Bank inside the Stop & Shop on Route 111 in Monroe, Monroe Police said.

The man, wearing a hat, glasses and a dark jacket, can be seen in the photo above. 

Police didn't say if he had a weapon or how much money he got away with.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the department at 203-261-3622.

The Connecticut Bankers Reward Association is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the individual who robbed the bank.
